~My Daybook~

For Today… Monday, January 11, 2010

Outside my window... it is very cold--23 degrees.

I am thinking... that I am having trouble drawing the tree I am supposed to be doing for art!

I am thankful for... my mom and dad

I am wearing... jeans and a layered white and light green long-sleeved shirt, socks.

I am remembering... the good time I had at my cousin's house on Saturday. It was nice to meet a few new cousins, as well as being with ones I already knew. It was a lot of fun.

I am going... to the podiatrist today to see about my ingrown toenail. Ouch!

I am hoping... my mom and dad have a nice anniversary on Thursday.

On my mind... wishing that I didn't have to go to the foot doctor!

From the learning rooms… science, Bible, math, reading, English, history, etc. I am beginning a new book, "Dr. Jenner and the Speckled Monster"--and will be reading "Betsy and the Emperor" when it arrives at the library for me to pick up.

Pondering these words... "The most defeated, stumbling person among us can become, by God's grace, a radiant, confident overcomer...In Him, there is always hope. ~Stacy Rinehart

From the kitchen… for supper tonight we are having a cheeseburger casserole, applesauce, and rolls.

Around the house... heaters are running. I am waiting for my dad to come home from work to take me to the doctor since my mom is sick.

One of my favorite things: watching the Waltons with my family.

A few plans for the rest of the week: going to the foot doctor today, groceries on Wednesday, my mom and dad's anniversary on Thursday, church on Sunday.

~ Christmas Poems ~

Born Anew
by Robert Louis Stevenson

~*~*~

The legend tells that when Jesus was born

the sun danced in the sky, the aged trees

straightened themselves and put on leaves

and sent forth the fragrance of blossoms.

These are the symbols of what takes place

in our hearts when the Christ Child is born

anew in each of us.

Christmas Prayer
by Robert Louis Stevenson

~*~*~

O God, our loving Father,

help us rightly to remember the birth of Jesus,

that we may share in the song of the angels,

the gladness of the shepherds,

and the worship of the wise men...

May the Christmas morning make us happy

to be thy children

and the Christmas evening bring us to our beds

with grateful thoughts,

forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake,

Amen

~MY DAYBOOK~

For Today… Monday, December 14, 2009

Outside my window... it is partly sunny and 41 degrees. It is supposed to reach 50 degrees today.

I am thankful for... my daddy's job and that he will be off the whole week after Christmas!

I am wearing... my pajamas and fuzzy black and pink striped socks.

I am remembering... my cousins coming over this past Saturday, and my cousin and I laughing and talking :)

I am going... no where until Thursday night grocery shopping, unless we go for a quick trip to the mall tonight.

I am reading... a new Nancy Drew book, "Mystery at Moorsea Manor" by Carolyn Keene.

I am hoping... that it snows for Christmas.

On my mind... going to my aunt's house on Saturday and seeing my cousins again! It is going to be so LOUD--but FUN.

From the learning rooms… reading, math, Bible, history, art, poetry, etc.

Noticing that... Christmas is coming very quickly--only 11 more days!

Pondering these words... "This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him." 1 John 4:9 NIV

From the kitchen… leftover chili for lunch, and cheeseburger skillet dinner and applesauce for supper tonight.

Around the house... I am getting ready to start my schoolwork...lights are twinkling on the Christmas tree and it is fun to watch them while I am doing my work.

One of my favorite things: baking and eating Christmas cookies

A few plans for the rest of the week: maybe a trip to the mall, grocery shopping on Thursday, going to my aunt's house on Saturday, a gift exchange and Christmas program at church on Sunday--I am going to be an angel in the program.
