When swiftly falling from the sky,
Refreshing fields and meadow ground
And pastures that were seared and dry.

When splashing on the windowpanes,
The raindrops sing a merry lay,
While breezes echo their refrains
Through branching trees that bend and sway.

When I at last am snug in bed
And silence seems the most profound,
Upon the roof above my head,
